Sports Day

Every May my students compete in a "special olympics" against all of the other clusters in the district. They train for this big day all year during their adaptive PE class. For some reason it always gets left off of the school calendar. One of our 2nd grade teachers wanted to make a big deal out of sports day. She has a son with autism and knows what sports day meant to him. During a faculty lunch she said she was going to get the whole school to cheer us on, and if any teacher didn't participate they're poor sports and she doesn't like them! The entire school lined the building and cheered as we paraded around. I'm not sure if it meant more to me or the students.
